The Fundamentals of Design, Styling & Photography
This one-day workshop is designed to enable you to discover and develop your creative style for your business through creating distinctive images and unique painted backdrops. Design is an essential part of your business and how you showcase this is important. Toria and Andrea will encourage you to explore and enjoy your creativity in a relaxed and supportive way.
See how important your images are to creating your narrative and the role backdrops and accessories play in this. Learn how to quickly set up and take great photos that give you a consistent look for your website, social media and editorials, even when you think you don’t have time!
Following introductions over coffee/tea we will begin with painting a small backdrop to music, we will encourage you to wear a blindfold for this short exercise to allow you to be totally relaxed and feel free to express yourself without inhibition. (Past students have always found this part great fun!). We will discuss the importance of composition, colour combinations and textures and Toria will demonstrate her approach to painting a backdrop and how she uses colour and light to draw the eye to your subject. We will then move on to delving into an abundance of paints and colours for you to paint your own large backdrop on a stretched canvas. All materials are included.
Andrea is an inspirational teacher and will gently guide you to make the most of your camera, whether it is a DSLR or a phone camera. We will help you to set up your backdrops and accessories ready to create beautiful images for your portfolio.
There will be gorgeous drapes, accessories, your backdrops and of course, seasonal British flowers. We will have prepared some floral designs for you, inspired by nature and the beauty of British flowers, it may be that these are the inspiration for your set up.
You are very welcome to bring your own accessories with you if you have already begun to create your own brand identity. This masterclass is for anyone (beginners or the more experienced) who would like to improve their styling and photography skills.
